The MPhil programme in Scientific Computing is offered by the University of Cambridge as a full-time course which aims to provide education of the highest quality at Master’s level.

Covering topics of high-performance scientific computing and advanced numerical methods and techniques, it produces graduates with rigorous research and analytical skills, who are formidably well-equipped to proceed to doctoral research or directly into employment in industry, the professions, and the public service. It also serves as the first year of the four-year doctoral training programme in Computational Methods for Materials Science.

Covid-19 update for students starting in October 2020

Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and government guidance, we have had to make some changes to the delivery, but not the content, of the programme for 2020-21 in order to mitigate against risks to health and to give students the best possible academic experience in the circumstances. We will continue to monitor and respond to the changing public health situation.

The changes are:

  • All lectures will be delivered online;

  • Small group teaching will be delivered in person or online, as appropriate to the circumstances of students and staff;

  • Supervisions will be delivered in person or online, as appropriate to the circumstances of students and staff.
