Course aim

To present a selection of topics on advanced methodologies for solving evolutionary advection-diffusion-reaction partial differential equations, with emphasis on building blocks that constitute the bases for schemes of very high order of accuracy in both space and time.


  1. The FORCE method in one and multiple dimensions (2 hours)
  2. The HLLC solver for ideal and real materials (2 hours)
  3. The TV splitting. The basis and extensions (2 hours)
  4. The ADER framework (4 hours)
  5. Hyperbolization of parabolic equations via relaxation (1 hours)
  6. Wave speed estimates for CFL condition and HLL-type fluxes (1 hour)
