This course covers data visualisation techniques with examples in Gnuplot and VisIt. The first two lectures cover general visualisation requirements, for presenting high-quality data, with a focus on the representation of one-dimensional data and simple two-dimensional data cases. Examples are given using Gnuplot, a widely used plotting program within scientific computing, but the concepts covered are general. 

Lectures focus on the production of clear and informative plots suitable for use in publications, presentations and written work. 

The second two lectures focus more specifically on the VisIt plotting software. This is a specialist plotting program for advanced computational fluid dynamics, with many useful features for plotting complex multiphysics data. 

The focus of this section of the course is to guide students through the use of VisIt, how to produce data for plotting, and how to get the most out of the available functionality.
